The air is very clean which means on a clear day you can see for extraordinary distances, and sunrises and sunsets are magnificent.
When observing and photographing wild animals remember to respect their space – to keep from disturbing birds stay at least 20 feet (6 metres) away. However, if you are patient and quiet, inquisitive penguins will often come to investigate you. Other inquisitive birds include the striated caracaras, also known as ‘johnny rooks’, which are incurable thieves and have been known to fly off with anything from lens caps to entire cameras.
Life in the Falklands is dominated by the wind and the sea, so to protect your camera from sea spray and sand it would be wise to invest in a waterproof bag. |
